Tripo AI raises $446M for 3D models

The Series B and B+ rounds fund a 3D-native foundation model that generates production-ready, quad-topology objects in seconds, a first for the category.

Tripo AI, developed by Chinese startup VAST, raised roughly 3 billion yuan ($446 million) across Series B and B+ rounds led by MPCi, with strategic backers including Perfect World, BlueFocus, and 37 Interactive Entertainment alongside financial investors CDH, CICC, and CMC Capital. The round follows a nearly $200 million Series A+ and A++ raise in June, on top of a $150 million Series A3 round the company disclosed in July, an unusually fast cadence of back-to-back raises even by 2026 AI-funding standards.

The money lands alongside a preview of Tripo P2.0, the company’s latest 3D-native foundation model, which it says generates high-quality, production-ready 3D objects with quad topology (a mesh structure of four-sided polygons that’s standard for animation and game engines but historically required manual cleanup after AI generation) in seconds, a first for the category according to the company.

3D generative AI has lagged text, image, and video generation in reaching foundation-model scale, so a raise this size, tied to a specific technical claim about output quality rather than just capability, is a signal the category is catching up, alongside adjacent world-model work like World Labs’ Atlas. For studios or robotics teams currently paying for manual mesh retopology after AI-assisted 3D generation, Tripo P2.0 is worth evaluating once it’s broadly available, though the “production-ready” claim should be verified against your own pipeline before you cut that step.
