Harvey buys asset-manager AI firm Benchmark

Legal AI company Harvey acquired Benchmark, its third acquisition of 2026, to build out AI workflows for asset managers overseeing $2T-plus in assets.

Legal AI company Harvey has acquired Benchmark, a New York startup building an AI-powered platform for investment decision workflows, in its third acquisition of 2026. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. Founders Alec Dunn and Connor Janson are moving over with their engineering team to work inside Harvey’s product organization.

The deal extends Harvey’s push into asset management, a vertical where it already counts roughly 50 client firms, Blue Owl Capital, Bridgewater Associates, and KKR among them, using Harvey for investment due diligence, data-room analysis, and deal-document review. Benchmark brings a platform already trusted by firms overseeing north of $2 trillion in combined assets, giving Harvey an established customer base and product to build on rather than starting that workflow from scratch.

What it means for operators

Harvey started as a document-review tool for lawyers and keeps buying its way into adjacent, data-heavy professional workflows rather than building each one internally, the same acquire-and-fold pattern behind Zoom’s purchase of Common Room and Whatnot’s acquisition of recommendation startup Shaped. If you’re evaluating a narrow AI vendor in a regulated field, that acquisition pattern, a platform company absorbing point solutions one workflow at a time, is a reasonable signal for where a vendor like Harvey intends its product surface to end up.
