Lyte raises $165M to help robots see

Lyte, a physical AI perception startup founded by veterans of Apple’s Face ID team, closed a $165 million Series C on September 2, led by Maverick Silicon at a $1.6 billion post-money valuation, roughly triple its prior mark. The round brings Lyte’s total funding to $272 million since it emerged from stealth in January with $107 million. Fidelity Management & Research, which led the Series B, returned alongside Atreides Management, Key1 Capital, and Ora Global (formerly Exor Ventures).

Lyte builds custom silicon, multimodal sensors, and spatial software under the LyteVision brand, fusing 4D coherent vision, high-resolution imaging, and inertial sensing onto one synchronized timeline. The pitch is that measuring position and motion natively in silicon, rather than reconstructing it in software from separate camera and lidar streams, gives robots data they can act on directly. The company says it has moved from stealth into production, shipping to customers in inspection, logistics, and manufacturing.

Lyte plans to use the new capital to scale sensing-silicon production, expand its perception software, and grow deployments with robotics and industrial customers. It’s one more data point in a robotics-funding wave that has favored the sensing and perception layer specifically, not just the robot makers themselves, following Walden Robotics’ $300M Toyota-backed seed and the broader run of physical AI funding this year. A trebled valuation on real shipped volume, rather than a demo, is the detail that separates this round from the wave of robotics raises still pre-revenue.
