Executive search firm Christian & Timbers estimates only about 2,000 US engineers have the applied-AI depth to reliably help enterprises see ROI as forward-deployed engineers, out of roughly 17,000 in the broader FDE market; its study, based on interviews with 250+ hiring executives, projects demand to surge 2,100% by year-end as the share of companies planning to hire FDEs jumped from 5-10% in January to 70% by mid-year.
