Agility Robotics opened a 60,000-square-foot training center in Fremont, California, near the Tesla plant expected to start Optimus production this year. The facility trains Agility’s Digit humanoid robot, which the company says has already moved more than 100,000 totes at a GXO logistics facility and has $300 million in secured orders from customers including Amazon, GXO, Schaeffler and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. CEO Peggy Johnson said the company has “commercialized” and now knows what it takes to meet a facility’s safety and regulatory bars, ahead of a Digit Version 5 expected this fall that adds the ability to sense humans and work outside robot-only zones.
