Sundar Pichai said the Gemini app reached 950 million monthly active users on Alphabet's Q2 earnings call, adding roughly 200 million users in four months.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said on the company’s Q2 2026 earnings call that the Gemini mobile app reached 950 million monthly active users, about 50 million short of the billion-user mark ChatGPT crossed earlier this year. Pichai said the user base tripled year over year, with roughly 200 million of those users added in the last four months alone, growth he attributed largely to new agentic features rather than the chatbot alone.
Update, August 14: Gemini crossed 1 billion monthly active users on August 11, Google said, making it the company’s fastest-growing product ever, reaching the milestone faster than any of Google’s other 13 billion-user products. Google credits distribution through Android, Chrome, Search, and Workspace, alongside 63% of users now talking to Gemini directly rather than through another Google surface.
